Have you found yourself in the Lone Star State looking for something to do?
There's 117 Dallas-Fort Worth suburbs to explore. I will discuss a few recommendations in downtown Dallas, West Dallas, Innwood, and Addison.
If you find yourself in downtown Dallas: Spend a full day
While we visited the Dallas area during COVID, we kept to outdoor activities and takeout. Dallas has a lot of interesting things to do- you can get into conspiracy theories about JFK's assassination while walking around Dealy Plaza, the Grassy Knoll and the Sixth Floor Museum (we did not visit the museum at this time so I am unsure about their COVID policies and would recommend waiting to visit but definitely keeping it on your list of things to see.)
(There‘s a $5 parking deck next to the museum instead of the $10-12 the museum charges for their smaller parking lot)
If you're looking for good views, open spaces, and a place to run/walk- It's worth your time to take a trip to the Trinity Levee Trail in West Dallas. The trail is over the Margaret Hunt Hill bridge, there's a great pedestrian bridge next to it called the Ronald Kirk Pedestrian Bridge. You can take a stroll on the pedestrian bridge and then follow the trail either below all the bridges or under them. The view of the city and the Margaret Hunt Hill bridge is unbeatable- especially at sunset. Blue herons can be spotted down the Trinity Levee Trail as well.
(Tons of free parking over here)
While you're over in West Dallas, you'll see across from the park a restaurant/shopping/brewery marketplace. These are some of the Trinity Grove restaurants and neighboring shopping center restaurants including:
Beto & Son, a mexican restaurant
Babb Brothers BBQ
Whisk Crepes Cafe
Chicken Scratch
The Holy Crust
Brunchaholics
Steam Theory (brewery)
The Network Bar

Innwood
Looking for shopping? Check out Innwood's many shopping centers, especially Innwood Village where you can find grocery stores, food, and shopping.
A great spot for lunch or dinner is Flower Child. It's a chain and there's a few locations in Dallas, but if you're looking for something close to a home cooked meal, this is it.
Addison
If you're here during Christmas, check out Vitruvian Park in Addison for a beautiful light display for free.
Some other restaurant recommendations doing take-out right now that we didn't get to try are:
Bread Zepplin (sandwiches/soups)
La Ventana (mexican)
Tswirl(crepes)
Pete's Cafe
Cane Russo (pizza)
