Last July I went with Michael and his family on an Alaskan cruise. Actually before that I went with my family to Las Vegas for a few days. This was pretty cool we rented a cabana at the pool and walked down the strip which took hours shockingly. We rode in a convertible and stayed in New York New York. From there I flew to Seattle and we had a day there until we needed to get on the boat. I believe I went to North Face and used my discount because I had been working there that summer.
There were about 15 of us on the cruise which took us from Seattle to Juneau to Skagway to Glacier Bay Ketchikan to Victoria to Seattle in a little over a week. In Juneau we got in a helicopter and landed on top of a glacier and got to walk around and take pictures. Walking on a glacier was crazy because there were crevasses you had to be aware of. They were a beautiful blue color and super pretty but also scary. The helicopter ride was cool we got to see the town from above and I had never been in a helicopter before.
In Skagway we did an adventure zipline through a forest and it was wild, it was a super fast zipline and you went upside down and backwards. They also had husky puppies there! I liked Skagway the best because we also did a train ride on a famous railway that used to be the only transportation during the gold rush in British Columbia and then we biked down the mountain going super fast and seeing all the beautiful mountains around us.
In Ketchikan we didn’t have a full day so we did a lumber jack show in the morning and then a hike through a rainforest in the afternoon. The forest was an old growth forest so the trees were hundreds of years old and it overlooked the whole town and water.
Glacier bay was awesome we saw 2 whales breach and some tails and seals floating on their backs but the glaciers had started melting and receding.
In Victoria we got to see the awesome parliament building and the city, which was super cool and on the water. We walked around for most of the night since we didn’t have that long there but the Fisherman’s wharf was cool because they have many quirky house boats.
On the way home we rode in the RV and stopped in Zion-where I finally got to hike some of the Narrows! Most fun hike ever because you wade through the Virgin River. We also did Arches again and I got to see some new sites! It took about a week to get back in the RV which was wild but super awesome.
