Travels Revisited: Dresden 2019

June 20th- I decided last night I wanted to finally go to Dresden for the day, since I had been thinking about going for like 2 weeks. So I bought my tickets last night and woke up this morning at 7 to go to Germany by myself for the afternoon. I got here at 10:30am and it started sprinkling when I got off the bus but I started walking into the old town as they call it even though Dresden was almost off the map after the war so they had to rebuild everything. Everything is in very baroque, dark style, which looks really cool and all the important buildings look like that so it’s pretty uniform. I started by walking down the shopping street and made it to the Kruiezkurch church even though I didn’t realize that’s the church I needed to go up for the views so I’ll have to go back on my way out. Then I got to see the Frauenkirche and it’s impressive chapel and dome inside- they had to rebuild it and tried to use some of the old rubble. Then I went through the Residenschloss palace on the outside on my way to Zwinger. A garden and palace type building but I heard a tour guide say that they used to grow orange trees inside. Anyway I offered this Asian couple to take a picture and we became picture buddies because I kept running into them on the terrace and they were so nice and took my picture a bunch. The guy she was with was deaf I think so that was cool they were really nice even though all we kept saying was danke. I’m only using German here which is very fun-

After Zwinger I saw the Brühlschen Garten, terrace and the super cool art museum the Albertium. Then it was lunchtime and I’m currently at a burger place in the square. I have until 3:30 until my bus leaves because I had to be back for the farewell dinner.
