Travels Revisited: USA Roadtrip 2017- NYC & Boston

Concrete Jungle + Boston

First time in NYC was a success! On the last night here we had to run through the station to catch our train, I have a new appreciation for public transportation. We went to Times Square during the day and at night, much cooler at night. Strolled through Central Park, the Rockefeller center, and 5th avenue. I made us venture 30 blocks up to take a gossip girl picture on the steps of the Met. I got to see all my favorite movie spots like the Plaza Hotel. Today we took the subway (I did not see any rats) to Battery Park and the Freedom Tower. The Statue of Liberty is much more impressive in person, I think it's shown on shows and things so much that people forget how cool it is. The 9/11 memorial is a must see, I really enjoyed seeing the pools. The Museum of Modern Art had great pieces in it. Starry Night, Monet's Water Lilies, the Campbell Soup cans by Andy Warhol, a Salvador Dali piece, etc. Finally seeing New York was incredible and we discovered some cool spots of our own, like the Elevated Acre over by the Brooklyn Bridge. We tried New York style pizza and bagels. I love those bagels, everyone says they're so good because of the city water but I'm not sure that's it. We didn't make it to the Top of the Rock or the Empire State Building but that's just something to do for the next trip. On to the next stop!

Boston:

We only had one day in Boston but we went to Luke's Lobsters so I would have to say we accomplished everything we needed to do. Kidding- but really, lobster rolls & clam chowder are amazing. We walked some of the Freedom Trail towards the harbor. We saw the Paul Revere statue and church which was pretty cool. The Massachusetts State House was very impressive (the gold roofed building).

We tried to go to Mike's Pastries for cannolis but the line was out the door and around the block, so I got a Starbucks chocolate pastry, oh well. Boston is a much bigger city than I thought it was and almost every building has a historical meaning but it didn't really have a big city vibe to it and that was nice. The skyline view near the North End was pretty as well.

The Freedom Trail in Boston is one of the first things we did there... besides stopping at a seafood place for crab and lobster rolls. On the way to Boston we actually saw a dead black bear on the side of the road and a beaver trying to run into the road! I guess new wildlife is also a part of this trip. We walked through the Italian district, passed a very popular cannoli place, the line was down the block and around the corner. Near the Italian district is the statue of Paul Revere and the church he rode to. The statue was actually pretty cool because his hand looks like it gestures towards the church. We walked around Boston Commons and saw the State house with its impressive gold roof.
