Travels Revisited: USA Roadtrip 2017-North Cali

June 16th- Today we left Portland and headed to Redwoods National Park. Originally, we planned to stop at Crater Lake on the way, but the weather wasn't great and the lake was a couple hours out of the way. I have heard it's a tricky park to visit because if it's cloudy you can't see the lake at all, guess we will have to go back! Redwoods National Park was actually really interesting to see. We drove 7 miles through the park on Howland Hill road and stopped at Stout Grove to walk through the trees. The drive impressed us, the bugs were bad but the tall tall trees made up for that. Camping in Redwoods went smoothly except for the snake on the bathroom floor!

June 17th- From Redwoods we set out for Lassen Volcanic Beds. On the way to Lassen we saw Mt. Shasta, another volcano. Who knew California had volcanoes? I didn't. Unfortunately, most of the park was closed unless you drove around the outside of the park so we did not see much. Our campground was on Lake Manzanita, and from the lake you could see Lassen Peak, a lovely snow covered volcano. We also ran around the lake trail in 90 degree weather and survived!

June 18th- California heat is fun. In Sacramento it was a beautiful 107 degree day. Redding, California was even hotter and we were only there for 30 minutes to get food. Sacramento was just a pit stop on the way to Yosemite but we did go to an In&Out for the first time and we were pleasantly surprised. I wouldn't mind if we had an In&Out at home.
