Travels Revisited: USA Roadtrip 2017- Pacific Northwest

So Montana is the coolest state and Glacier is the coolest park. Even though we didn't get to see all of Glacier because they hadn't finished plowing snow off of the Going-to-the-Sun Road. We didn't make it up to Many Glacier or St. Mary, but our hike to Avalanche Lake was beautiful. We hiked along a Glacier runoff river so it was super cold even just standing next to it and it was super violent but very pretty. It was a 5 mile hike that took us to a little beach surrounded by mountains. We stayed in a cute cabin right outside of the park. We only had 2 nights there and it is definitely a place I want to go back to. Today we're driving to Seattle. Washington is the most Washington place ever, they have George Washington outlines on their highway signs. We stayed in a cute little cabin too.

June 14th- Today I was not sleepless in Seattle, I was out and about on these weirdly set up roads. Seattle's roads are so confusing that Google couldn't figure out where we were. We did a lot today, first we had breakfast at a cafe/record store in West Seattle, probably the best breakfast I've had for 5 dollars. We then drove over to the Pike Place Market and luckily we were able to see the famous fish throwing that takes place anytime someone buys a fish. The market is insane, I don't know how they're open every single day but it was fun to walk around and shop.

After the market we drove over to Kerry Park to get a better view of the skyline, since the Space Needle is pricey to get to the top of. We tried to go see the lighthouse at Discovery park but the parking lot was closed and it was difficult to get to. We did walk a couple trails in the park. My favorite spot of the day was the Kubota Gardens. It was a 20 acre Japanese garden and it had a bunch of secret tunnels through the trees. You could pick the terrace trail or the historic gardens trail. The garden was started in 1927 by a Japanese immigrant then given to the state. I also have never seen so many bikers on the road, Seattle is super healthy.

June 15th- Portland is a cool city! We didn't have much time today but we made the most of it. The world's largest used and new bookstore, Powell's City of Books, is in Portland. It was out first stop and our longest stop. It had maybe 6 stories, each floor named a differently colored room, and took up an entire block. On the pearl floor they had a room of rare books and you had to get a pass to go into it, we were starving by that point so we didn't wait in line to get a pass. We got sushi for dinner which was a fantastic idea because sushi when you're near water is always amazing. We just walked around town and decided to stop for ice cream at Ruby Jewel. They served very fancy ice cream sandwiches and I got a flavor called Marionberry crisp, I'm not really sure what a marionberry is but it was delicious. We accidentally parked next to the infamous food truck corner, and that line of food trucks made food truck Friday in Charlotte look like a joke. Even the rain added to our true Portland experience.
