Yellowstone NP

May 19th: Grand Tetons > Yellowstone

Bison! Bison everywhere!

Yellowstone- the park where everything is an hour or more away. We entered from the South Entrance and made a lot of stops on the 96 mile lower loop. We had a cabin at the Old Faithful Lodge, so we started our day by driving around the east side of the park to see the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, Canyon Village, West Thumb Geyser Basin, Yellowstone Lake, and the mud volcano. It took us from 10am-5pm to drive the loop back to Old Faithful. We arrived at Old Faithful just in time and only had to wait 10 minutes for it to erupt! We also stopped at the Fountain Paint Pots, Firehole Falls, & Grand Prismatic Springs in Madison.

The cabin was great, right on the river and we could see a geyser from our window. It was freezing all day, 30 degrees, and snowing at times. So all of our stops were quick. There was even more snow in this park, they had just opened the road on May 13th so you could still see it piled up on the side. Lewis Lake and Yellowstone Lake were still frozen over!

Yellowstone is an awesome park for photography and wildlife viewing.
